Latest Work

Having not been to the print workshop (at Gainsborough House in Sudbury) for some months it was great to be able to get over there last week.  I have been working on a number of pieces inspired by the Suffolk landscape and it was really satisfying to be able to put one of the plates 'to ink'. This one called 'Suffolk Landscape ~ Spring', will hopefully be followed by more showing the rural landscape through the seasons.  I am hoping to complete work on another over the next few weeks and will add to the website once I have done so.

What's happening in 2013

Much to my shame this is my first post of 2013 so have lots of news to add.  I gave up my old 'day job' this spring and now intend to work only part time, so I am hoping that this will give me the capacity to spend more time on my art.  Watch this space!

In March I took part in an exhibition at Edmunds Gallery in Bury St Edmunds.  This was a highly succesful and enjoyable event.  Many thanks to all those who came along and made the week what it was and a special thanks Steff Simpson for organising.

Main events for 2013 are Suffolk Open Studios in May/ June and hopefully Art on the Prom later in the year.  More information about these events to follow.

Suffolk Opens Studios 2012

June is approaching and it is time for Suffolk Open Studios 2012.  This year has more artists than ever (118 listed in the 2012 Directory) and having looked around the Showcase Exhibition as the artists were setting up the standard seems higher than ever.

Talking of the Showcase Exhibiton, this is open to the public from the 26th of May until the 4th of June (11am until 5pm).  There is a Private View on Friday the 25th of May from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.  If you are looking at this website then consider yourself invited.

My own studio will be open for two weekends in June, the 2nd/3rd and the 23rd/24th (11am to 5pm).  It would be lovely to see as many people as possible.  Feel free to come along for a chat, find out more about printmaking and collagraphs in particular, and perhaps have a glass of wine.  I am currently working on some new pieces enspired by rural landscapes, so there should be some work in progress.  As has been the case in previous years I will also have some photographs for sale.  A limited number of these can be viewed in the Studio section of this website.

This year there is also a Bildeston 'Hub'at Brook Farm Studios (on the corner of the Chelsworth/Lavenham Road). Some of my work will be there alongside paintings, mixed media and ceramics by Hazel Bradshaw, Colin Widdup, Paul Vousden, Oonagh Gleeson and Emma Jayne Robertson.  So if you are able to come to Bildeston on one of the weekends that my studio is open then do pop into Brook Farm Studios as well and if you are not free one of those weekends then why not come on one of the middle weekends in June and go to the Hub.

N.B. If you need more details re locations then e mail me via this website.

Exhibition at the Pond Gallery, Snape

We are now well into 2012 and the art exhibition season is under way.  The Suffolk Open Studios Collective is having an art exhibition at the Pond Gallery at Snape Maltings from the Thursday the 12th of April, closing on Wednesday the 18th of April.  Some of my work will featured as will work by Theronda Hoffman, Elizabeth James, Morag Johnston, Caroline Keen, Alison and Carol Mayston and Stephanie Simpson.  More information about there work can be seen on the Suffolk Open Studios website.  There is an Open Evening on Friday the 13th of April from 7pm to  9pm and on the other days the exhibition will be open from 10am to 5pm.   Why not come along, have a browse, go for a walk by the river and then perhaps finish with a cup of tea and a piece of cake in one of the restaurants.
